Stacey Hedley John

 

 

The son of Edward James and Maud Stacey, Pte Hedley John Stacey was on board the Tamahoko Maru which was sunk by US submarine USS Tang.  Of the 267 Australians on board only 72 survived.

STACEY-TX3197 Hedley John, loved son of Mrs. L. Bramich, Smithton. Died whilst prisoner of war on 24th June, 1944, as a result of the torpedoing of a Japanese transport near Nagasaki.
