Symonds Peter Louis
Born Devonport Tasmania to Stanley and Lillian Alice Symonds Pilot Officer Symonds was a sheep farmer living in Victoria when he enlisted in the RAAF He was a attached to 463 Squadron and one of seven crew members which took off in Lancaster JA 902 (D for Dog) from RAF Waddington on the 3rd January 1944 to bomb Berlin. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base. It was later established that the aircraft had crashed into the water and all the crew were killed. The bodies of four of the crew were recovered but the other three were listed as missing. Pilot Officer Symonds is commemorated on the Memorial to the Missing, Runnymede, England.
