Viney Cyril Charles

Cyril Charles Viney was born at Margate Tasmania the son of Robert and Ruby Holyrod Viney (nee Johnston) on the 8 Mar 1915 at the Edinburgh Hospital, Hobart.

Flt Sgt Cyril Viney was the pilot of Wellington Z1212 which was detailed to bomb Kassel Germany on the 27^th August 1942. Nothing was heard after takeoff and the plane did not return to base. It was advised later than the plane was attacked by three night fighters over Holland – the petrol tanks were damaged and the controls shot out and air bomber W.O. Munckton was the only one that had time to bail out before the plane crashed.
