Walton Victor Harbod
Born Cairns Queensland to Albert Ernest and Eleanor Walton but was working in Hobart Tasmania as a bank clerk when he enlisted and was posted to the 2/12 Battalion. He was killed in action in the Battle of Sanananda New Guinea 12 Jan 1943 and is commemorated in the Soputa War Cemetery KILLED IN ACTION LT V. H. WALTON Youngest son of the late Mr A. E. Walton Burnie, and Mrs E. Livingston, Hobart, who was killed in action in New Guinea. Lt Walton was a member of the staff of the E.S. and A. Bank for about 12 years. He was educated at the Burnie High School, and served in the Middle East, including Tobruk. A brother, S-Sgt A. J. Walton, is in the A1F. WALTON.-January 12, New Guinea Vic A tribute to the courage and endurance of all men of the 2-12th Battalion and our own beloved trio Lt Vic Walton, Capt Pat Rafferty, Capt Alex Murray.
