World War 11 Casualties
Warhurst William Born 18th June 1900 Port Melbourne Victoria Australia to George Elias and Margaret Warhurst (nee Ferguson) but enlisted in Tasmania. He was a Staff Sgt with Heavy Battery Rabaul (Coastal Bt) RAA and a prisoner of war on board the Montevideo Maru which was torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine US Sturgeon. He is commemorated on the Rabaul Memorial Papua New Guinea
