Watson Clifford Cornelius

 

LATE PTE C. C. WATSON,

BURNIE

Pte. Clifford Cornelius Watson, who was killed in action in Bougainville on May 4, was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Watson, of View road, Burnie. He was born at Meander 21 years ago, and moved to Upper Burnie with his parents about seven years ago. He was a member of the Upper Burnie Football Club, with which he played till the outbreak of war.

He joined the A.I.F. in 1943 and saw service in New Guinea before spending leave at home. He went to Bougainville with his unit some months ago, and was in most of the operations there. His brother Geoffrey ("Jerry") is in the RAN
