Wilkinson Robert Henry

 

PILOT'S DEATH

Won Commission at 18 Years

F-Officer Robert Henry Wilkinson, a pilot of the RAAF, who was killed in an aircraft accident in New South Wales recently, was the younger son of W-Cdr and Mrs H. A. Wilkinson, of New Town. F-Officer Wilkinson won his commission at the age of 18 years and nine months, and was at that time the youngest commissioned officer in the RAAF. He was in his 20th year at the time of his death.

F-Officer Wilkinson was educated at the Hobart High School and the A. G. Ogilvie High School. He was head prefect of the latter school during the first two years of its existence. He later joined the staff of the Commonwealth Bank. He-took a keen interest in the old scholars' association of the Ogilvie High School and was secretary to the time of his enlistment in the Air Force. He was promoted to flying officer last February
