Yeates Ian Marsh




Born 12 July 1917 to William Robert and Myrtle Yeates of Franklin Tasmania Ian was a journalist when he enlisted.

He was a Flying Officer with the 459 Squadron when he lost his life in a flying battle over Cyprus on 14th July 1944.

459 Squadron was formed at Burg-el-Arab on 10 February 1942 as a maritime patrol squadron and over the years the squadron was in operation 53 Australian lives were lost.

Ian Marsh Yeates was Mentioned in Despatches.
