CHRISTIAN SCHOOLING KENT    

 

Christian Schooling Kent was born 19th April 1807 London England the youngest son of Edward Kent and Mary Barry.  He was baptized 3rd. April 1808 at St. George in the East London

He arrived in the colony with his sister Caroline Matilda and brother in law Captain Alexander Wales on the 12 Nov. 1829 as a passenger on the "Prince Regent"

On the 2 Jan 1832 he applied for a 1st. class allotment in the suburbs of Launceston LSD 1/106 page 742

On the 4th Feb 1834  he married Susannah Tyreel, spinster in the Presbyterian Church Launceston.  Witnesses to the marriage were John Main and Joseph Fossey.

15.11.1832 Endeavour-new colonial sloop-apparently back from maiden voyage to Circular  Head.  Officially surveyed for registration by George Coulson.

Christian held the licence for the Star & Garter Hotel situated Cnr Elizabeth and Bathurst Sts  Launceston which was transferred to Robert Rider (Launceston Advertiser 12 Feb 1835)  and also had a boat which he used to trade between Launceston and Georgetown .

The licence was later transferred to Robert Rider. (Launceston Advertiser 12 Feb 1835

"To be let on an improving lease of three or four years at basin of the Cataract exceedingly well adapted for a stockyard also a cottage of four rooms delightful situation on the site of Cataract Hill"

Christian died at Patterson's Plains on the 25 November 1839 age 32
