To whom it may concern.
For the past four years, the Petrol Pumps at Jericho, registered under the name of T A McLean, have been under the sole management of Mrs Johnston.
During that period, it has been my job to supply petrol to her every week. I have always found Mrs Johnston to be strictly honest & straight forward in all of her dealings with me, and also a most capable business-woman.
I cannot speak too highly of Mrs Johnston's character, and should anyone desire a personal reference, I shall be only too pleased to do so.

DIPROSE-JOHNSON, Bonnie Alison Leith- Born November 8, 1915, passed away peacefully, November 4, 1996.
Nan you were my mentor, my teacher, my friend. You gave us love, you gave us understanding, the advice never went astray. The time you and I in the last two weeks, the secrets we shared, the memories you gave me, are always mine to treasure. Thank you Bonnie. We love you and that will never go, even though you had to. You looked so peaceful and you were so beautiful, now you can rest with no more pain. It hurts so much, I would have changed places if I could, to give you a longer chance at life, but you didn't want that.
We had to say goodbye, but goodbyes are not forever.
Love you always-Katrina, Scott, Ellie and Ethan.

While other school children are seeking entertainment during the school holidays.
David is helping his father to restore an historic freestone cottage in High St at the Southern end of Oatlands.
David said he will keep up the work when he leaves school.
The stone cottage being restored by Mr Johnson is owned by mrs M Garnett, and is believed to have been built in the 1840's or 1850's.
Mrs Garnettplans to live in the cottage when the work is completed..
Mr Johnson said it will be necessary to restore both the interior and exterior of the cottage, including the rebuilding of the northern wall.
Extensions, in freestone, are planned at the rear of the cottage.
The cottages have been unoccupied for many years and some valuable cedar wood work disappeared from it some years ago.

During its construction, approximately 13,000 prisoners of war died and were buried along the railway. An estimated 80,000 to 100,000 civilians also died in the course of the project, chiefly forced labour brought from Malaya and the Dutch East Indies, or conscripted in Siam (Thailand) and Burma (Myanmar). Two labour forces, one based in Siam and the other in Burma worked from opposite ends of the line towards the centre. The Japanese aimed at completing the railway in 14 months and work began in October 1942. The line, 424 kilometres long, was completed by December 1943. The graves of those who died during the construction and maintenance of the Burma-Siam railway (except for the Americans, whose remains were repatriated) were transferred from camp burial grounds and isolated sites along the railway into three cemeteries at Chungkai and Kanchanaburi in Thailand and Thanbyuzayat in Myanmar. KANCHANABURI WAR CEMETERY is only a short distance from the site of the former `Kanburi`, the prisoner of war base camp through which most of the prisoners passed on their way to other camps. It was created by the Army Graves Service who transferred to it all graves along the southern section of railway, from Bangkok to Nieke. Some 300 men who died during an epidemic at Nieke camp were cremated and their ashes now lie in two graves in the cemetery. The names of these men are inscribed on panels in the shelter pavilion. There are now 5,084 Commonwealth casualties of the Second World War buried or commemorated in this cemetery. There are also 1,896 Dutch war graves. Within the entrance building to the cemetery will be found the KANCHANABURI MEMORIAL, recording the names of 11 men of the army of undivided India buried in Muslim cemeteries in Thailand , where their graves could not be maintained. The cemetery was designed by Colin St Clair Oakes.
