Mary Ann and Daniel had three sons baptized at St. Joseph's Church. Daniel employed convicts at Port Cygnet in 1848; he purchased 51 acres at Agnes Rivulet at Port Cygnet from Frederick Lipscombe in March 1853
Daniel lived at Port Cygnet and ws elected a trustee of the Road Trust on 30th January 1864. He died in September 1874 and was buried in St. James Cemetery at Port Cygnet.
According to the 1842 Census, Daniel "Rook" lived in a bark dwelling on 6 acres at Port Cygnet with his wife and three children (a son and two daughters). According to the 1851 Census, Daniel Rourke lived at Nicholls Rivulet with his wife, six sons and one daughter. He bought 19 and three quartes acres at Agnes Rivulet in 1853. He owned a house and farm on 20 acres near Port Cygnet (VR58). He is listed as a farmer living at Port Cygnet in 1867 (MDT). He died in 1878, aged 81 and is buried in St. James Cemetery.
According to the 1851 Census, James Rourke lived at Nicholls Rivulet. John Rourke leased a farm and house on 29 acres at Glaziers Bay
Daniel married Catherine Dunn. Catherine was born in 1809 in Ireland and died on 2 Nov 1842 in Hobart at age 33. The cause of her death was Catherine died in childbirth in 1842.
