Albury, Thomas William

 

He was born England the son of Thomas William Albury but living in Tasmania since he was 3 months old, an engineer who embarked Sydney 24th November 1915 on board “HMAT Ceramic” with the 6th Field Company Engineers.

He was killed in action 9th April 1918 and is commemorated in the Contay British Cemetery, Contay, France.

 His brother Arthur Albert Albury (No 3258) was also killed in action 19-22nd August 1916 and buried in the Combles Communal Cemetery Extension, France.

Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Albury, Ferndene, New Town Road was officially notified on the 26th inst that their son, Sapper T. W. Albury, had been killed in action in Franco on April 9.  He enlisted in August, 1915, and left for Egypt in November and after serving a time there was transferred to France. He served his apprenticeship in the engineering department at the Tasmanian Government Railways, Hobart. This is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Albury to be killed in action.
